This short post should be helpful for every writer who is using Twitter to direct iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users to his book published in ePub format.
Wouldn’t you like tweeple to read your book seconds after they discover it on Twitter? Here is a simple trick.
Instead of tweeting a link to a book page, tweet a link to a book file.
So if your book is being show at the directory like this: http://www.feedbooks.com/book/3127
find a link to an ePub file: http://www.feedbooks.com/book/3127.epub
and tweet it – you can use a shortener as well: http://bit.ly/bL3fJC

Posterous goes mobile and what it means for readers
This is a fantastic news for everybody, who is using a mobile phone not only to make calls, listen to music or play games, but also to read. Posterous has just introduced a mobile version of the site.
For mobile users of social networks this means one essential benefit: every post.ly link is a guarantee of a mobile friendly page.
Until now I missed the url shortener, which at the same time could inform other users, that a link I tweet is readable on a mobile phone. I had to describe links as “mobile friendly”. Now the problem is solved. Anyone who knows that Posterous went mobile, can open post.ly links without any fear of getting stuck in a full site view.
This is especially important in times, when more and more people are sharing stuff without actually reading it. The culture of over content is created also due to a lack of tools, which help to conveniently consume the content. A technical problem (“will it open?”) prevents people from reading. Instead they share everything – both good and bad stuff.
The mobile interface of Posterous is simple&beautiful and loads pretty fast. All pictures are re-sized to fit the width of a screen. This pretty basic and very useful feature still doesn’t work f.e. in WP Touch plugin for WordPress. »»»
E-books: iPad is a game changer No. 2
Now, when everybody is crowding into discussions about iPad and it’s potential influence on e-book market, there must be somebody to write about a device, which changed the game already.
Yes, it’s an iPhone. Big guys will never admit it because they can’t make that much money from a device being a game changer completely unintentionally. One of the most famous contemporary quotes on reading is about the iPhone:
It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore. – Steve Jobs
It’s much more profitable to bring a new game changer and draw all attention to it. This is what happens with iPad and iBookstore.
From a point of view of an average e-book reader it all started with the iPhone. We readers can prove it not with forecasts, simulations and awesome demos, but a sheer user experience.

Why all the excitement about iBookstore?
When it comes to reading, iPad is a game changer. I can’t say that about iBooks/iBookstore and I just don’t share all the excitement about Apple’s e-book platform.
I understand, Apple gave a green light to digital books and that’s a big thing. I understand the beauty of iBooks. It’s definitely the most advanced way on earth to make an e-book look like a paper one (but I can’t even say it’s the sexiest – Kobo’s demo looks cooler).
What is iBookstore? It’s a medium-sized e-bookstore, available only in US, which doesn’t even have a website. What’s more, it’s not even Apple’s biggest bookstore. There are more than 100 thousand book applications in AppStore, most of them are books-as-apps.
iPad will be a great e-reader not because of iBookstore. At least for now. With 60 thousand books plus extra 30k from Project Gutenberg (experimental ePub), Apple’s e-book shop is just another alternative. Surely it’ll grow fast, but I don’t think iBooks will become iPad’s default e-reading application. Why? »»»
iPhone apps for book lovers
Smart phone apps are pretty great for the most part. I read the Tribune app on the train en route to work, share links and keep in touch via the Tweetdeck and Facebook apps. I use my bank’s app to manage my accounts, double-check and test my sign language with an American Sign Language app, my French with a foreign language app, and you don’t even want to know how I survived before I had the app that locates public restrooms using GPS. I also seem to have a lot of apps built with book lovers in mind.Here are five of my favorite apps for a more literary mobile experience:
1. The Amazon Kindle app allows users to read book content directly from their mobile devices, and Kindle owners can sync bookmarks and notes between their smart phone and Kindle e-reader. The app is free to download and features options such as adjustable text-size and Whispersync technology, which bookmarks your place in the book automatically upon exit. Amazon.com
2. As the name implies, the Classics app offers access to classic literary favorites such as “Alice In Wonderland,” “The Art of War,” “The Time Machine” and “Dracula”, and it’s free to download and use. While the text size is not adjustable, pages are presented like physical book pages, with virtual page-turning by touching the screen. Classicsapp.com
3. The Indiebound app allows readers to find local independent bookstores by ZIP code, browse and download books from independent bookstores as well as save titles for future shopping. indiebound.org/iphone
4. LibraryList isn’t a fancy bells-and-whistles app, but it’s an insanely useful one. Simply put, it is a list of all the books you have read or want to remember to read, easily searchable by subject, author and with the ability to upload and export lists and add notes. iTunes.apple.com
5. Stanza is a highly customizable free app that gives users access to more than 100,000 books for downloads, about half of which are free. Like the Classics app, Stanza features single-touch virtual page-turning, with the added benefit of dimming the display (perfect for nighttime reading) with a single vertical touch to the device screen. Bien conocido de la comunidad de lectura Wattpad está plenamente movilizada. How to make your book downloadable directly from a tweet?
Are you a writer using Twitter to promote your books? You might find this post useful.
I’ve just made a little invention, which can make your book one click away from a tweet. Obviously it’s not about tweeting on a computer. It’s easy to link to any kind of file. I’m talking about downloading books to mobile devices, specifically iPhone and iPod Touch. As a mobile fiction writer and heavy Stanza user I’ve been thinking of how to combine tweeting and book downolading in a more effective way.
Everybody, who is tweeting from iPhone and has Stanza installed, can download a book in ePub format directly from a tweet link.
Safari can interpret epub:// directories, so that it opens Stanza, which downloads a book from that directory. But there is one problem: you can’t control what will come out, when you use url shortener. I’ve got a trick for that. Let me show you step by step, what to do: »»»
